Look alike wip

Wanted to try my hand at a look alike which is very difficult and a little frustrating at first, yet I find is a very good way to also learn the anatomy of the head better.
Some may recognize who it is, some may not. I leave it open to see if I was successful. As I work more on it, it will become more apparent.

Here is your average swat guy I made for a final last quarter in my background design and layout class. Pretty basic story concept which is, a UFO crashes in a city park much like NY's Central Park leading to police personnel being dispatched on scene. My partner and I created the entire scene needed to show this scenario, animated the cameras and rendered the beast! It just so happened I got paired up with the only other student in the class who knew Max better than Maya. His preference is environments and mine characters. Lucky huh? The final cinematic turned out pretty cool, I'll try to get it uploaded here.

Well here are my final panels for the war. Wish I could've spent more time to make it better and use more map types but oh well, I'm satisfied with how it turned out anyway. Hope you like!

SLEEPLESS

Here is the final I turned in today for a concept art class this quarter, done digitally. Its based off an idea I developed called "Sleepless". Obviously, its based in Seattle and the story goes that a big corporation scientifically engineers the perfect coffee bean. Its a smashing success yet they are unaware of the long term affects and so people who continue to consume it turn into mindless, hyper-insane zombies. The coffee zombies gain control of all the hundreds of factories around the world becoming more crazy while at the same time, they develope a thirst for a most tasty blend of their blessed coffee mixed with human blood. Just a fun idea I thought might make an interesting game.

Wow, been a while since last post! Had a hellish last quarter, some tough classes. First portfolio developement course, website design, and 2D animation..Ahhhh! Glad its over, now I can hopefully work on some personal work and possibly enlist in the next Dominance War!! Can't believe its already starting again, crazy.
Anyways this one was actually done quite a while ago before the shiz hit the fan and was more of a test in finding new armor design techniques. As you can see, I basically masked the entire model with some funky line work and finally did a simple deformation inflate to punch in the quick suit design.

Witchblade

Another Image comics character, the beautiful, the deadly, the Witchblade! Created by one of my top favorite comic artists Michael Turner, I tried my best to construct the model from his early issues and costume design. This was actually started quite a while ago and remains a work in progress. As you may see, this is a panel which will be included in my final portfolio book.

Not totally satisfied with this one, still a little awkward in places. Don't know when but I want to go back and really refine it and add more accessories. Identity unknown still, I guess you can call him...man-bear-pig!

I still don't know what to turn this dude into, what to add or what he actually is...we'll see I guess. I had to look in the mirror for reference on that rippling muscle, he he lol. Any comments on what to do with him is much appreciated and also things to correct, thanks!

The basic mesh was done very quickly in Max, exported as seen and then fully sculpted and posed within Zbrush. Not sure what this character is becoming but I like how the shape is turning out. Minimal reference used. Hands and wrist areas definitely need some work.

Meric

This is the main character from my story called Adopted Technology. I have a game design document written out yet there is still a lot of fine tuning both story and gameplay wise.
The model was done several months ago with the UVs already layed out. It took me a couple days to sculpt in Zbrush and pose him. I'm in the process of using him as a statue for my final project in an interior spaces class.

Making the first cut I had to meet specific requirements such as poly count, using 3 point lighting, making the character appropriate for the story, being involved in my clan and having all five shots a certain way turned in at the posted deadline. I used Zbrush 3.1 to create the normal map, pose the character and also did all the texturing which were all then transfered into 3ds max 9.

Online competition "Dominance War III"

A couple fellow students and I joined the online 3d character competion now in its 3rd year called Dominance War. I made the initial cut of about 360 out of 1500 to 2000 entries and am awaiting the judging process to see where I stand in the end. The judges are some of the top artists and professionals in the industry and is watched by many leading companies. Shown is the initial 2d concept and the final sculpt and pose done in Zbrush.

Zbrush used to make normal maps for projects "Tears of Blood" and "To Hell & Back III"

I modeled, UV unwrapped, sculpted, and textured this character and the cobra. Tears of Blood is a game that takes place in Morrocco about a small town overtaken by evil spirits possessing the citizens.
My good friend Nelson also on the two projects, provided the original model which I took into Zbrush to create the normal map for this firefighter helmet.

Tears of Blood is an honors class project and To Hell and Back III is a firefighter simulation game now in production soon to be released for fire stations nation wide. I did a lot of work on the 3d characters but mainly worked a great deal on the design, writing the majority of the script and creating the fictional characters aside from the real life characters used in the game.
